Black Bloc Message Enhanced by Continuing Police Harassment

By Gary Morton, Toronto, June 28th  2010

It’s Monday night, the G20 meet in Toronto is over and there are still illegal searches and arrests taking place in downtown Toronto. Any establishment figure that speaks, whether it be Mayor David Miller, the Police Chief or someone from the Harper Government conveys the message that we the people of Toronto had to forfeit our rights. Forfeit them because violent Black Bloc people may be among us. Yes, we must allow completely unauthorized mass search and seizure, humiliation and detainment. Even though our Charter of Right allows no such thing.

There are big legal questions here; the only new law put on the books said police could make searches near the fence. The War Measures Act certainly hasn’t been proclaimed in Toronto, so why have police officers all over the city been proclaiming for days that they have powers of search and seizure and arrest that they do not have? They all have similar speeches and questions, so they were all trained on this … even on the snarky answers. Like I saw a cop tonight at Queen’s Park telling a cameraman he had the right to do video of himself being dragged into custody.

Go to the top and you’ll likely find the answers ... the sudden decision to close the University of Toronto, and then the follow up Saturday afternoon when the ISU turned its own proclaimed Free Speech area into a total arrest zone. Along with others I had to fly down the street to avoid being grabbed and tossed in a black van. Some people fell to riot police that made snatches. In on the university grounds an undercover RCMP guy with a club came for me trying to pick a fight … so I assume that in that area they were luring people into scraps and tossing them into vans.

Even at the beginning on Friday I was one of the first people searched and given an eerie cop speech that was soon to be repeated all over the city. At that demo it was common knowledge that the Black Bloc was going to split off on the Saturday march; so to me that meant the police also had that info (documents protesters stole from a police car and posted online show that all police did have that info) … which led to a Saturday with real Bloc members and interspersed police agents playing Bloc guys. Then the actual action came and the Bloc did most of the store damage after police simply left the area to allow them to do it, and it appears that cops also facilitated the burning cruisers thing to make it all more dramatic. The consensus around downtown Toronto is that the police were somehow involved and facilitated the burning cruisers show, so I'm not alone in thinking that.

We know the Black Bloc was there, and I heard police mention the Southern Ontario Bloc (SOAR), for sure there was infiltration by ISU and some international intelligence people (probably CIA), and also the Toronto police were in on the set up in some way. Which must mean that in all anti globalization protests they have a core of intelligence that works with the local police. They do arrest some of the Black Bloc, but most are let go as it is not the bulk of the Black Bloc that the international pro globalization police want.

There are different agendas that lead to the same action. The Black Bloc’s view is that the G20 is the board of directors of globalist action. They appointed themselves as the 20 wealthiest nations to be the rulers of the world. Their Conspiracy to Commit Mischief is in their masquerade as a body of Social Justice. They have nothing to do with social justice. Stephen Harper, the illustrious host was there to try to save bankers from paying tax. Then there are world leaders like Hu Jintao and Silvio Berlusconi that make the biggest Black Bloc guy look like tiny potatoes in the criminality area. Even more democratic European leaders were there to push through austerity measures that would increase world poverty. And nothing of substance was accomplished at the meeting; even the photo ops failed and were overshadowed by the Bloc action. The poorer nations and Africa and so on … well they can show at meetings as token guests.

So the Black Bloc was there because the rich nations and globalists were having a tea party. They want to fight back and spoil the party. They see nothing to negotiate with people like Hu Jintao. And to some extent, what people forget about small and violent protest actions, is that is how Western Democracy arose. Not through successful revolution, but endless protest and street fights. Anarchists have a strategy of social change through threat of total anarchy, though they deny it.

Then we have police and intelligence agents that want to disguise themselves as the Black Bloc and facilitate actions to an extent. Why would they do that? A simple story really. They want deep cover control of the protest movement and their view is that violent actions discredit it, so they want to keep trouble happening in ways that work for them.

The softer protest movement of labour unions and poverty activists and environmentalists all want to peacefully protest and they believe that they can have influence with the G20. That influence increasingly is becoming little more than begging for things. An environmentalist may say, Please G20, leave us one Polar Bear left alive, or one forest, or a couple square metres of the Gulf that aren’t oil bound. And at the same time Harper and Obama are really just okaying more dangerous offshore drilling. Poverty activists are always begging for Africa and getting nothing. Perhaps we should have a video of the last Canadian laborer begging that his job not be sent to China.

And that’s where right wing intelligence agencies come in … they don’t want to give activists or the people anything at all … they are working with the free trade regime to promote complete exploitation, poverty, war and to defend the rights of the gated rich behind the fence. To them violence in Toronto discredits the protest movement and that is what they want.

We also see the business elite aligned top to bottom, whether it is Hu Jintao getting his ass kissed by the global elite and being told to keep those sweat shop workers in line, or Mayor David Miller appealing for more damage money to be paid to already insured business people in Toronto. What we don’t see is anything for the working man or social justice. Workers laid off for the summit; sorry you don’t get paid. Were you searched, beaten, arrested, charged, terrified, humiliated … well, sorry, but your rights had to be sold off because Black Bloc guys and gals may be in town. And even so criminals are in town every day.

A lot of people say – Hey, didn’t we hear that before during a thing called 9/11. And they also say – Those big guys at the top sure aren’t selling any of their rights off, only ours.

This weekend I was at some protest and sometimes just on the street. I learned to love the people of Toronto. Like in the abandoned portions of downtown just after the Black Bloc action. The streets were open and ordinary people and protesters got along. They could have looted but did no such thing. Believe it or not I know or have heard more stories of ordinary people being harassed than I do actual protesters who were arrested. I remember standing downtown in shelter from the rain with cops watching ominously from across the road. Black vans were everywhere, we saw the cops with the gas masks and the marching riot police. When the riot police came marching down; I was talking to some local residents and a couple soft protesters. It was the ordinary residents of Toronto who were most frightened by this whole thing. They ran off saying Jeeze we’re getting out of here, and I was left with teenager girl protesters clapping their hands along with the cops beating on their shields as they walked by.

And one question is this: would any of us have been out on the street if we had of known that an order for MASS ARREST had come down. And make no mistake; that’s what it was … and I know damn well a few people right at the top in Canada, who don’t care anything about liberal Toronto … Stephen Harper, Jim Flaherty and Tony Clement ... remember them from the Mike Harris years of protest …. I guess now they’re smiling smugly. They’ve gotten even and there is no political price for them to pay here because no one here votes for them anyway.

So now you know who the hidden but not so hidden faces behind this new police state are … and are they done yet or is there more. Should I run around screaming because some Black Bloc kid broke a window, or should I make a sober assessment and say, That Bastard Harper just drove a Tank over Toronto. But I must be drunk because the tank was invisible; nearly all politicians and police say it never existed. The arrest total for the G20 weekend in Toronto has now reached 1090 people ... yet we're told that's a pink elephant. Nothing really happened here and let's all just forget about it.

And now come the legal questions: and I want it laid out. Who planned and ordered Mass Arrests in Toronto? Let it be public knowledge.

Black Bloc kids on the run have buried their black clothing; and nearby politicians and police are burying their black bandanas.
